Hi, I’m Alicia Brown

Homeschool mom of four, writing coach, speaker, and founder of Write with Mrs. Brown, LLC.

I help high school students turn their essays into scholarships—without the overwhelm, gaps, or guesswork.

But this work was born out of my own family’s journey.

From HR Recruiter to Homeschool Advocate

I spent years working in human resources recruiting in the financial services world before walking away to raise and homeschool my children—who were then 2, 1, and a newborn. Private school wasn’t an option, but I was determined to build a high-quality education at home.

Nineteen years later, I’ve taught children who were gifted, children who struggled with ADHD and expressive language delays, and everything in between. I understand what homeschool moms face—because I am them.

Writing Wasn’t Always Easy, But It Was Always Worth It

I knew writing mattered. As a former recruiter, I saw how communication opened doors. But teaching it at home wasn’t always smooth. I had to build a system that supported different kinds of learners, using trusted tools like IEW alongside flexible coaching and scaffolding.

That system has served families nationwide. And the results speak for themselves: one of my children—once delayed in speech—earned straight A’s in college-level writing. Another won a full-ride scholarship. In 2025 alone, my own children and students in my program earned over $260,000 in scholarships and prize money.

My New Mission: Turning Essays into Scholarships

After walking through the college and scholarship process with my own kids for three consecutive years, I realized something: most homeschool families need more support and a clear path.

That’s why I’m launching a new initiative focused on helping students write scholarship-worthy essays, discover real funding opportunities, and apply with confidence.
